Dr. Simone Gold, Leading Anti-Vaccine Figure Sentenced To Prison For Entering Capitol, Jan. 6

A California doctor who is a leading figure in the anti-vaccine movement was sentenced on Thursday to two months in prison for ‘storming the U.S. Capitol’, where she delivered speeches to rioters during the January 6th Capitol riot.

The America’s Frontline Doctors founder pleaded guilty in March to a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully entering and remaining in a restricted area of the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack.

Dr. Simone Gold uses a bullhorn to address supporters of President Donald Trump during a riot in the US Capitol’s Rotunda in Washington, Jan. 6, 2021.

Christopher Cooper, U.S. district judge for the District of Columbia, sentenced Gold on Thursday to a 60-day prison term followed by 12 months of supervised release and ordered her to pay a $9,500 fine.

Gold, a former emergency room physician, said she deeply regrets entering the Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6, 2021, and didn’t intend to get involved in an event that was “so destructive to our nation.”

“It’s the opposite of who I am,” she told Cooper.

Gold founded America’s Frontline Doctors. The Beverly Hills-based doctor, a Stanford Law School graduate, has over 480,000 followers on Twitter. She has condemned COVID-19 lockdowns and promoted the use of alternative Covid-19 drugs as coronavirus treatments.

According to NewsObserver.com, the judge told Gold that her anti-vaccine activism wasn’t a factor in her sentencing. Cooper said Gold wasn’t a “casual bystander” on Jan. 6.

More than 800 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the riot at the Capitol. Over 300 of them have pleaded guilty, mostly to misdemeanors, and nearly 200 have been sentenced. Not a single insurrection charge has been filed despite the continuous “insurrection” label Democrats keep slapping on the Jan. 6th riots.
