Constitutionalist and proud second amendment advocate Summer Johnson (R), from Marion, NY, has announced her official candidacy for New York’s 24th Congressional District on Thursday.
Johnson, who has an Associates Degree in Criminal Law and specializes in Constitutional Law, will be running against heavyweight incumbent Chris Jacobs (R-NY,27) in the NY State primaries, who according to district re-mapping, will now be competing for John Katko’s old seat. Katko (R-NY24), one of 10 in the House to vote for former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment — said he was retiring to spend more time with his family.
According to Johnson, other vetted Republican candidates running to replace Katko in NY’s 24th are Chris Jacobs (Incumbent), Mario Fratto, John Murtari, and Andrew McCarthy.
Johnson mentioned in a recent press release that “the rural and growing communities within the 24th District are lacking honest representation. This beautiful and large area stretching from Lake Ontario to Fort Drum, through the rolling apple orchards of Wayne County, passing Wine Country around through historical Canandaigua and Livingston county; must be protected and served.”
According to the press release, Johnson’s “Securing Our Future” platform isn’t about glory or campaign funds, it’s about fighting to keep NY-24 as beautiful as it is today! To protect its rural communities from Federal government overreach, to shield its citizens from special interest “green” washing policies taking over our farmlands, and to secure that all the children living there are given their fair share of Government public school funding or the freedom to withdraw.”
Johnson is challenging any of her fellow candidates to an open and fair debate, according to the press release. “New York needs an energized and forward-thinking Republican candidate, and I plan on providing this to my community,” said Johnson.
The NY State Congressional Primary race will be held on Saturday, June 28th, and will include other prominent officials including NY State Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), whose seat is up for reelection in November, as well as Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer.
