Rep. Lauren Boebert, (R-CO) declared victory in her reelection campaign on Friday despite indications that the race will head to a recount according to state law.
“We won! I am so thankful for all of your support and I am so proud to be your Representative!” Boebert wrote on Twitter.
Boebert was leading by a slim 551 votes Friday morning when Democrat Adam Frisch called a news conference via video, and conceded, according to The Hill.
Although headed to a state-wide mandated required recount, Frisch said he had already called Boebert and conceded, according to The hill.
He also said “the likelihood of this recount changing more than a handful of votes is very small.”
“We are not asking for this recount. It is one that the citizens of Colorado mandate through our election system,” he said. He also asked supporters not to donate to his campaign for the recount effort.
“Please save your money for your groceries, your rent, your children,” he said, according to The Hill.
