‘Bros’ Star Reacts to ‘Disappointing’ Box Office Opening: ‘Straight People Just Didn’t Show Up’

Published on

Lol, bro (no pun intended), straight people didn’t show up, because straight people find men having sex with men absolutely repulsive. The fact that Hollywood thought this was going to be a box office hit just goes to show how out of touch and delusional these people really are.

Billy Eichner, star of the Hollywood flop, has shared his thoughts regarding the meager box office opening for his LGBTQ romantic comedy “Bros,” writing that “straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up.”

In a thread posted to his official Twitter, Eichner, who wrote, produced and stars in “Bros,” asserted that he is “very proud” of the movie, describing his experience covertly watching a sold-out screening in Los Angeles during the weekend.

“Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold-out theater playing ‘Bros’ in LA. The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end and some were wiping away tears as they walked out,” Eichner wrote. “It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.”

That’s great Billy, but the rest of America wasn’t. As a matter of fact, the film completely bombed at the box office this weekend, opening in fourth place with a slim $4.8 million gross from 3,350 locations. The movie only had a $22 million production budget, and still, it will likely struggle to achieve profitability, considering its catastrophic debut opening.

Critics fired back at the “Bros” actor suggesting the movie flopped because of Eichner “hates half the country.”

But instead of taking the loss like a man, Eichner decided to lash out at the straight community, blaming them for the box office flop. “Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight! You will have a blast! And it is special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often. I love this movie so much. GO BROS,” the disgruntled actor ranted on social media.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s why it flopped, bro! Nevertheless, sorry to disappoint you, but straight men, just “straight” up don’t want to watch you gay men get it on with each other. It has nothing to do with us being “homophobic”, it’s just not our thing – obviously.
