BREAKING: Mike Pompeo Tells A Chicago Crowd That He’s Prepping For A 2024 Run

Published on

2024 will be here before you know it, and within just a matter of months, the Presidential stage will start to take shape as candidates announce they’re gunning for America’s top office. At this point, the only thing stopping many Republicans from announcing a 2024 Presidential run is they’re still waiting to see if former President Donald Trump decides to throw his hat in the ring again for a second shot at the Oval Office.

But not everyone is sitting on the sidelines, and a few GOP bigshots are even going as far as telling sources that they will be challenging Trump in the primaries if it comes to that.

Former Secretary of State in the Trump administration Mike Pompeo is one of the high-profile Republicans that plans to primary Trump, according to Jack Posobiec of Human Events Daily, and it appears that he is planning to run for president in 2024, although no formal announcement has been made at this time.

“Confirmed via a hundred sources, Mike Pompeo is telling people he wants to primary Trump,” Jack Posobiec of Human Events Daily said back in October 2021.

“We’ve got a team in Iowa, a team in New Hampshire and South Carolina. And that’s not random. We are doing the things one would do to get ready,” Pompeo told the 1,100 guests, including a few political candidates, gathered at Navy Pier for the Navy Seal Foundation Midwest Evening of Tribute.

“Unlike others, if I go down an escalator, no one will notice,” Pompeo deadpanned. It was a friendly jab at former President Donald Trump’s announcement in 2015 that he was running.

“We are trying to figure out if that is the next place for us to serve,” Pompeo continued. “If we conclude it is, we’ll go make the case to the American people of why that is. And in the end, the American people, I pray, will make a good decision about who’s going to be their next leader.”

Though his former boss has not yet announced a run himself, it is widely believed that Trump is intending to seek a second term and stage an electoral rematch against President Joe Biden.

Pompeo, who said he had a good working relationship with former President Donald Trump, avoided badmouthing his former boss. “I’m deeply grateful” to have been hired as secretary of state,” Pompeo said, “and I hope he enjoys retirement.” The line drew a laugh from the high-profile crowd.

Pompeo also bragged about his record as the top diplomat for Trump, saying he traveled to more than a hundred countries. More than a few times, Pompeo said he sees China as the greatest outside threat to the United States. And the greatest threat coming from within the country: “teachers’ unions.”

The event raised $6.3 million for the organization that helps warriors transition into the private sector and helps their families if they don’t come home. Citadel CEO and Republican donor Ken Griffin donated $1 million.
