RANT… I follow the RBOB religiously. Practically daily this year with gas prices soaring. Every time the RBOB, the wholesale price of gas (add taxes and dealer profit to get your actual price of gas) goes up 20 cents, that’s when you see the big spikes at the pump. But when it falls???
Do you know the RBOB has fallen over 50 cents in the last three weeks? I didn’t realize it was all the way down to 3.67… which means about $4.19 in SC, about $4.49 to $4.59 in NY…
Because here in NY, all stations are LOCKED at 4.99/gallon. The price of gas at BJs was locked at 4.78, 4.68 using their credit card. Exact same price for 10 days straight. I have NO idea what the price is in SC as I haven’t been there the last 10 days.
The fact gas on the wholesale market has gotten a LOT CHEAPER but the prices are nearly steady… flat out makes me MAD. This is not the fault of the big oil companies but the local and regional distributors.
So when you go enjoy your 4th of July plans the next few days, know a portion of that money is going directly into the pockets of these local and regional distributors. These people should NOT be profit-taking so huge on one of the biggest weekends of the year at all-time high prices.
Especially since I’m going to need hundreds of dollars in GAS alone just to get my family back to Greenville. No break!
End rant.
