Trump Lashes Out At McConnell As GOP Senate Majority On The Line, ‘He Is The Worst’

Published on

Former President Donald Trump was quick to lash out at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for Republicans not winning more seats in the U.S. Senate, as their chances of flipping a majority in the U.S. Senate as hopes of a ‘Red Wave’ victory dwindle.

“He is the WORST!” Trump added, referencing the Kentucky Republican leader.

Trump isn’t the only MAGA Conservative frustrated with Mitch. A handful of others including Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, and Rep. Andy Biggs are also concerned with the direction the GOP is heading and have voiced their concerns with those in charge or at the very least responsible for a lackluster “Red Wave”.

“It makes no sense for Senate to have leadership elections before GA runoff,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, tweeted Friday. “We don’t yet know whether we’ll have a majority & Herschel Walker deserves a say in our leadership. Critically, we need to hear a specific plan for the next 2 yrs from any candidate for leadership.”

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., also tweeted Friday that the leadership vote “should be postponed.”

Sen. Cynthia Lummis, (R-WY) tweeted in support of Rubio’s proposition as did Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), according to Fox News.

Trump also blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in October for diverting PAC funds away from Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters to bolster the reelection campaign of Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). Blake Masters ultimately ended up losing his race to Democrat Mark Kelly which now threatens the chances of a GOP Senate majority win.

McConnell pulled $9 million from Arizona that could have gone towards bolstering Masters but instead allocated funds to the Alaska race between two Republican candidates in ‘rank choice’ contest. This one move alone may have just cost the GOP a Senate Majority win.

McConnell has led Republicans in the Senate since 2007 and served as the Senate Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021.
