GROUNDED: Unvaccinated Cardinals All-Stars Goldschmidt, Arenado Missing Toronto Blue Jay Series

As the St. Louis Cardinals head to Toronto to play the Blue Jays, they won’t be bringing their two best players because of Canada’s COVID-19 vaccination rules. The two-game series starts Tuesday.

All-Stars Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt will not be traveling north of the border to face the Blue Jays, the team announced. Catcher Austin Romine, a former Yankee, will also miss the trip because of his vaccination status.

While it is only two games, the Cardinals are on the edge of the playoff race, trailing the Brewers by 1.5 games in the NL Central entering Sunday while holding the last wild-card spot by a game over the Phillies. One game could be the difference between reaching the postseason and going home early, the NY Post reported.

The Cardinals aren’t the only team to leave players behind. A number of teams have also had to play without their best players because they decided to pass on the Covid jab. The Phillies weren’t able to bring Aaron Nola, Kyle Gibson, Alec Bohm, and J.T. Realmuto.

The Kansas City Royals had to place 10 unvaccinated players on the restricted list recently for their series in Toronto, making them the team most affected this season by the Justin Trudeau dictatorship that has gripped the nation in recent months.
