‘The Great Resignation’ Plagues White House With High Staff Turnover Ahead Of Midterms

The White House continues to downplay the recent Biden Staff Bailout as administration staffers jump ship ahead of the midterms.

Since incoming Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre took over, she has had to deliver 3 on-camera goodbyes to departing staffers in less than 24 hours. She attempted to make light of the situation during a recent White House briefing when she told reporters, “I promise we will have a press shop”. She added “not everyone is leaving.

According to the Associated Press, “the administration is undergoing a period of unusually high staff turnover as President Joe Biden nears 18 months in office. Long hours, low morale, and relatively low pay are taking a toll on both the ranks of the senior staff and the more numerous junior aides who keep the White House functioning.

The Associated Press went on to justify the Biden Bailout by reporting that the “Biden aides insist the departures are not tied to the president’s low poll numbers, but instead reflect a natural transition for staffers — some of whom also toiled long hours on the campaign — looking to improve their quality of life. The aides emphasized that replacements have been secured for most of the departing staff and that no critical roles are going unfilled.”

“It’s a normal time for this level of turnover in any administration,” said White House spokesperson Emilie Simons. “Government service involves sacrifice, and staff often have young children or promising careers in the private sector they put on hold, or opportunities for advancement within the administration or through graduate school.”

Biden has also seen a mass exodus of Black staffers and some frustration among those who remain.

According to Politico, at least 21 Black staffers have left the White House since late last year or are planning to leave soon. Some of those who remain say it’s no wonder why: They describe a work environment with little support from their superiors and fewer chances for promotion.

The departures have been so pronounced that, according to one current and one former White House official, some Black aides have adopted a term for them: “Blaxit.”

Social media was quick to jump on the catchphrase citing they are not surprised at all that “black Americans are ditching the Biden Administration in droves”.

One Twitter user highlighted the correlation between “Blaxit” and the key demographic that “comprises a very large voting block for Biden: 1 in 5.

A number of staffers who left, moreover, said it was on good terms. Some departures were for graduate school opportunities. Others went to different cabinet departments. Several said they were leaving because of family matters. Dessources Figures said she wanted to focus on her young children, as did Conley.
