Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida as a dangerous Category 4 hurricane Wednesday afternoon.
Ian came ashore near Cayo Costa, Florida, with winds of 150 mph.
As of the 4 p.m. advisory, Hurricane Ian was moving north-northeast at 9 mph. It was located 10 miles west-southwest of Punta Gorda, Florida, and 20 miles northwest of Fort Myers.
The storm is expected to cause life-threatening storm surge, catastrophic winds and flooding in the Florida peninsula.

The center of Ian is forecast to move over Central Florida Wednesday night and Thursday morning and emerge over the western Atlantic by late Thursday.
Hurricane Warnings have been issued for: Polk, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, and Volusia counties
Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for Flagler County, Marion County
Tornado Watch issued for Brevard, Orange, Osceola & Seminole Counties until 1 a.m. Thursday
