According to several local news sources, Wayne County authorities said there was an active shooter situation underway Sunday night at a hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
A spokesperson for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office tells WNCN the shooting was reported at 8:17 p.m. at Wayne UNC Health Care on Memorial Drive. As of 9:10 p.m. Eastern Time, he said, the incident is still underway with police on the active scene.
Goldsboro police and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are at the scene, Gillie said.

Derek Burress, a county commissioner in neighboring Greene County, released a short statement on Twitter at 9:02 p.m. about the incident.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who were impacted by the Wayne Memorial Hospital incident,” the statement said along with a file photo of the hospital.
