De Blasio BUSTED, Caught Misusing NYPD Security Detail As ‘Concierge Service,’ Report Finds

Published on

Looks like Bill De Blasio may have skipped out on a $319,794 NYPD bill for security detail that should have never been made available to him outside of NYC.

Just as de Blasio begins to seriously consider a run for NY State governor, he suddenly finds himself under fire for violating ethics rules during his short-lived presidential campaign in 2019. As the mayor roamed Iowa and South Carolina, he took his NYPD detail with him, which is a big no-no, and left taxpayers high and dry with a $319,794 tab for their travel expenses. He has since refused to reimburse the money.

@JudgeJeanine took to Twitter to slam De Blasio, calling him out for “draining your pocketbook… while they empower themselves”.

De Blasio, claims the report is full of inaccuracies, and is taking the position that his actions were above board, arguing that himself and his kids are entitled to security protection as determined by the NYPD. The only problem with his argument, however, is that his adult children declined security details, and cops were only tapped for selective duties. “It’s not security. It’s essentially a concierge service,” DOI Commissioner Margaret Garnett said.

Investigators said their two-year probe uncovered “potential violations of the New York City Conflicts of Interest Law, lapses in best practices, corruption vulnerabilities, and inefficient uses of public resources.”
