POLL: Liz Cheney Suffers Catastrophic Blow To Her Approval Ratings Following J6 Capitol Hearing

Published on

It wasn’t a question of if, but when, a poll was going to come out announcing the end for Liz Cheney (WY-R). Since the turncoat traitor of Wyoming decided to be the poster child of the J6 Committee Hearing, her approval ratings have suffered a catastrophic blow.

According to TownHall.com, the poll comes from the Casper-Star Tribune and was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy. Harriet Hageman, the Trump-endorsed America-first candidate running against Liz Cheney, has 52 percent support, while Rep. Cheney has 30 percent. No other candidate has more than 5 percent. Just 11 percent are undecided.

Brad Coker, the Mason-Dixon managing director, is quoted as saying, “The big story is Liz Cheney is going to get beat. That’s a foregone conclusion.” Again, we’ve been saying that for months.

The poll also showed that 27 percent approved of Cheney’s job performance, while 66 percent disapproved and 7 percent were unsure.

Respondents were also asked other questions about Cheney’s role as a congresswoman and how that affected her doing her job or if that made them more likely to vote for her.

For instance, 64 percent disapprove of “Liz Cheney’s decision to serve on the Jan. 6 committee,” and 54 percent said it made them less likely to vote for her. When asked if “Liz Cheney’s opposition to Trump affected her ability to deal with the important Wyoming issues,” 61 percent said it did.

Daily Wire also reported that Liz Cheney trails GOP challenger Harriet Hageman by more than 20% in a poll released on Friday, signaling concern for the congresswoman in the upcoming primary.

If the poll results play out in the state’s primary, Cheney will soon be out of office, leaving Harriet to face probable Democratic candidate Lynnette Grey Bull, Constitution Party candidate Marissa Selvig, and independent Casey Hardison. In right-leaning Wyoming, the Republican primary remains the top focus, with the winner likely taking the state’s House seat in November, Dillon Burroughs from the Daily Wire reported.

Victoria Eavis, a state politics reporter at CSTribune, also includes comments from Wyoming voters who were polled:

Cheney critics complain that she rarely visits, with many of them calling her a “RINO” (Republican in name only) as they air their grievances. Voters also called her a “carpetbagger,” an insult she’s been hit with since she moved to the state in 2012, a year before her unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate.

“Liz Cheney betrayed President Trump,” said Mark Hladik, who’s lived in Wyoming for 42 years. “Ninety-nine point nine percent pure RINO.”

Hladik is a Trump backer, but said the former president’s endorsement of Hageman didn’t influence his choice.

Travis Van Hecke, a Casper City Council candidate, thinks “it’s time for someone different,” adding that he would’ve voted for almost anyone who ran against Cheney.

“This race is more about Liz Cheney than it is about Donald Trump,” Coker said. “Anybody who’s credible, who ran to the right of Liz Cheney would probably win this race — with or without Donald Trump.”

Many of those interviewed, including Hladik and Van Hecke, voted for the congresswoman in the past, including as recently as 2020. But that past support no longer matters.

“Once a politician gets to a certain point, there’s a point of no return,” Coker said.

There were 1,100 Wyoming voters surveyed who are likely to participate in next month’s primary and a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent. The poll took place July 7-July 11, which a write-up from the Casper-Star Tribune noted was right after early voting began.
