A new poll shows Georgia GOP candidate Herschel Walker in the lead in the Georgia senate race against incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA).
An Insider Advantage/Fox 5 poll, shows Warnock losing four points since July, while Walker has picked up two points. The former University of Georgia football star now leads Warnock 47% – 44%.
“Warnock is winning among younger voters and seniors but trails badly among those 40-64. Men support Walker at 60%, while women support Warnock at 55%,” InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery told Fox 5. “Walker is receiving 12% support from African American respondents.”
Towery also predicted that Georgia could see another run-off election.
“With only 4% undecided, this race could very well be headed to a General Election runoff given the fact that there seems to be few points among the various demographics up for grabs,” he added.
In late August, a similar poll from Emerson College showed Walker leading over Warnock by 2 points, 46 – 44%.
“Walker leads Warnock among rural voters 58% to 24% while Warnock leads Walker 66% to 25% among urban voters. In the suburbs, voters are breaking for Walker by a nine-point margin, 50% to 41%,” Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling, said in a press release.
Walker recently released a fiery new ad, blasting his Democratic pastor opponent over his comments on race, as well as recent rhetoric from other members of the Democratic Party.
“Senator Warnock believes America is a bad country full of racist people,” Walker said in the ad. “I believe we’re a great country full of generous people. Warnock wants to divide us. I want to bring us together.”
Walker, who is Trump-endorsed, is also being hailed by former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley. Reacting to the latest poll, Trump stated, “Herschel is looking good – a shining start for Georgia.”
Haley also posted on social media, “It’s a great day in Georgia! If you want a leader who is tough on crime, puts parents in charge of their kids’ education, and knows the value of a dollar, @HerschelWalker is the Senator for you.”
