Vote Counting Far From Over As Trump-Backed Dr. Oz And Dave McCormick Deadlocked

Published on

Oh boy, here we go again with the mail-in ballots. I swear this is all by design to keep us in suspense, and if you’ve noticed, it always happens to the most influential races in battleground states.

So what’s really going on with the Oz, McCormick Senate race in Pennslyvania? For starters, they’re deadlocked, and an automatic recount can’t begin until they’ve counted all the votes. Sounds simple enough right? Well, not really.

According to election officials, a printing error was delaying the counting of thousands of mail-in ballots in Lancaster County. The error was made after the county already approved a test ballot, but the problem wasn’t spotted until the first mail-in ballots were opened Tuesday morning and failed to scan.

Officials said about 16,000 out of 22,000 mail-in ballots returned were affected by the printing error, and as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, 4,000 ballots still had to be counted.

The county blamed the vendor that printed the ballots, and election workers had to set aside all problem ballots, remark them and then scan them which takes a tremendous amount of manpower and resources to get through.

More than 50 volunteers, county employees, and party representatives are working to remark and count the affected ballots.

Once that problem is sorted and all the votes are counted, can Pennslyvania then begin the automatic recount that will be triggered, but only if Mehmet Oz remains within a .5% margin of Dave McCormick. Oz was within a .1% margin when both candidates called it the night Tuesday night.

If after all the votes are tallied, and the final vote puts McCormick ahead of Oz by more than a .5% margin, the election will be called for McCormick.
