After day 2 and another three rounds of Speaker votes, Rep. Kevin McCarthy failed again to secure the required 218 votes to become the next Speaker Of The House.
20 “Never Kevins” stuck to their guns and voted for opponent Byron Donalds (R-FL) who secured 20 votes in all 3 rounds before the House of Representatives adjourned just before 5 pm. The house expects to return for a seventh vote at 8 pm eastern.
During the adjournment, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), who is growing increasingly frustrated by the fact that McCarthy hasn’t yet secured the votes after 6 rounds, referred to his Republican colleagues who refuse to vote for McCarthy as “terrorists”.
“Whether it’s Boehner, or Paul Ryan, or then McCarthy, Scalise would just be next and we all know it,” Crenshaw told Guy Benson of the ‘Guy Benson Show’. “We just can’t allow that to happen. That’s why those of us are saying, look, you pushed us into this corner so now we’re saying we won’t vote for anyone but McCarthy. That’s why we’re saying it. We can not let the terrorists win. That’s basically what’s happening.”

Crenshaw obviously received an avalanche of backlash for the inappropriate remarks on social media. A resident of Texas wrote, “As a Texan…we apologize for @DanCrenshawTX. He has been an embarrassment to our state and won’t be missed. Sold his soul to DC.”

Others accused him of being “the exact opposite” of who he told people he was. “Man. I really liked him when he hit the scene. And then apparently it all went to his head, because he’s the exact opposite of who he told us he was. 🤮,” wrote another Twitter user replying to the sound bite of Crenshaw accusing his Republican colleagues as “terrorists”.

Jodi, from the “Red Whine Conservative Podcast” couldn’t believe that Crenshaw would say such an awful thing comparing members of his own party to “terrorists”. “
