GOP To Open Probe Into Disgraced Pete Buttigieg’s Response To East Palestine

Why disgraced Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg hasn’t resigned yet over his ghastly response to the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment that uprooted an entire community is beyond me. Do the Democrats not have any shame anymore? Regardless, the GOP has had enough and will be looking into the matter itself.

Congressional Republicans have decided to open a probe of the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment and hazardous chemical spill, and that includes everyone, even pothole Pete Buttigieg.

In a letter to Buttigieg Friday, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Republicans said they were opening an investigation into the Feb. 3 derailment of a 150-car Norfolk Southern freight train in the town of East Palestine that resulted in a massive fire and controlled release and burn off of hazardous chemicals, including vinyl chloride, according to Newsmax.

“This incident is an environmental and public health emergency that now threatens Americans across state lines,” the letter, signed by 21 Republican committee members, said. “Despite the DOT’s responsibility to ensure safe and reliable transport in the United States, you ignored the catastrophe for over a week.”

Buttigieg finally visited the site Thursday, a day after GOP 2024 presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump toured the site and brought supplies to the town of about 5,000 residents.

“The American people deserve answers as to what caused the derailment, and DOT needs to provide an explanation for its leadership’s apathy in the face of this emergency,” the letter continued.

Buttigieg’s visit comes 3 weeks after the incident and has drawn much criticism from the local community.

Savanna Hernandez, a Reporter with TPUSA, was on the ground to report and directly speak with the disgraced DOT Secretary.

Norfolk Southern representatives who were also nowhere to be found throughout the early days of the train derailment have also been widely criticized for not doing enough to support the residents of East Palestine. Hernandez asked a representative for Norfolk Southern what they would be doing to help residents here. Prior to filming, representatives claimed they “couldn’t speak to the press”.

Buttigieg has also been reluctant to speak to Press and accused citizen journalists of being “aggressive” to trying to ask questions on camera. Buttigieg’s Press Secretary during an interview begged for TPUSA journalist Hernandez to turn the cameras off.
