HIDING SOMETHING? AOC Misses Deadline To File Congressional Financial Disclosure

Published on

According to Fox News, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez missed the Aug. 13 deadline to submit her 2021 financial disclosures to the House Ethics Committee.

Ocasio-Cortez, who ran unopposed in her congressional primary race on Tuesday, doesn’t seem to be worried about missing the deadline.

“[T]he Committee provides a 30-day grace period before fines are levied. The Congresswoman plans to file before the period expires,” a spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.

This isn’t the first time the progressive liberal congresswoman from NY has found herself in a bit of financial trouble. In July Patriot One News reported that AOC had an outstanding tax warrant that was 5 months overdue.

AOC’s representatives claimed she was aware of the outstanding tax warrant when she took office in 2019, has been racking up late fees and interest since the congresswoman first promised to rectify her debt only to end up contesting the taxes and refusing to pay the amount due for half a decade.

Because AOC ran unopposed in her Primary race, Democratic voters were not given the chance to scrutinize her disclosures during the primary process.

The documents are expected to be filed with the Clerk of the House as outlined in Title I of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, according to a Fox News report.

“Financial Disclosure Reports include information about the source, type, amount, or value of the incomes of Members, officers, certain employees of the U.S. House of Representatives and related offices, and candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives,” according to the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

If Ocasio-Cortez fails to produce the financial reports by the end of the grace period, the fine is a mere $200.
