Not quite sure what’s going on over at CNN, but they sure are dropping like flies over there. Perhaps, fake news isn’t as appealing as the Conspiracy News Network thought it might be.
According to a report from NPR News, CNN is canceling Sunday show Reliable Sources and host Brian Stelter will be leaving the network; Stelter released a statement on his departure.
“It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential,” Stelter said, promising to say more on Sunday’s final show.
In a statement to NPR, Stelter says he’s grateful for the show and his team’s examination of “the media, truth and the stories that shape our world.”
The cancellation comes at a time when ratings have been dismal at best. In June, several media sources reported that Brian Stelter’s show ‘Reliable Sources’ had its lowest-rated month in the younger A25-54 demo since June 2001, averaging only 79,000 viewers in A25-54 and 585,000 total viewers.
CNN chief Chris Licht informed Stelter of the decision on Wednesday. Licht has been making cuts throughout the network since taking the helm as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s takeover of the old Time Warner company.
