OPINION: It All Started With Clinton, And If History Repeats Itself, We Are Doomed In November

Published on

I’ve seen this movie before and I don’t like it. I don’t ever want to see it again. And I know you don’t want to see it either. Especially now!

Why am I, a Meteorologist, opining on this? Because as a Meteorologist I am trained to look at the trends. I’m trained to look at weather history. Identify patterns. Look for similarities.

Let me take you back 30 years to 1992. I was a senior in high school. The election of 1992 was absolutely wild with third-party candidate Ross Perot gumming up the works. This caused Bush 41 to lose to Clinton by 5 points, and Clinton got the majority of states. The Democrats also took full control of the senate and house. Sound familiar? Change, change, change! On a personal note, this was the last time I rooted for the democrat and was happy with the election results. For the last time of my life with the Democrats nationally. 1993 and 1994 were two very rough years. The economy was so so. Taxes increased dramatically. All kinds of fun stuff came through the house and senate that pissed a ton of people off. I was one of those who saw the promised one thing, do another, and that changed me from liberal to conservative for good in 1994, my freshman year of college, the first time I get to vote for real. We overthrew Cuomo. Republicans in NY had the senate. And nationally, it was a bloodbath for Democrats. The “rising tide” as it was called by Haley Barbour, and the “contract with America” as it was dubbed by Newt Gingrich, swept the table. Gridlock government was back in 1995. Republicans were back in charge in the legislature. Happy days were here again.

So what happened in 1996? Yeah, Clinton won by 6 or 7. Comfortable win for him. Credit for the win then was given to the “soccer moms” who personally loved Bill Clinton at the time, though they probably hated his politics. Things did eventually get better but not for another 4 years. And that was a close shave.

Fast forward to 2008, and “hope” and “change” Obama swept the board. It was the biggest democratic night I ever saw in my life. And it was my birthday. Lovely. Swept into a super-majority congress with 60 in the senate and a ton of folks in the house. For two years they ran right over us. Kept us in a great recession for years. Rammed through Obamacare. And they pissed a ton of people off again, so here comes 2010. And boy were the republicans going to come back. They did. It was astounding. It was a great election night that hit the brakes on Obama running away with the country. At least it slowed it down. 2011 and 2012 were the republicans making up for lost time and trying to undo the disaster of 2009 and 2010.

So what happened in the fall of 2012. Anyone? Do you want to relive 2012? I surely don’t. It was a bad night. Obama won 51/47. Exactly as Romney predicted. As we see Romney now it really wouldn’t have made much difference, but that’s another story for another time.

The point of this article is that three times in the last 30 years, we as a nation were stupid enough to leave the democrats 100% in charge of all branches of government. 1993-94. 2009-10. And now 2021-22. While we are so focused on the biggest red wave potentially in history in 2022 to stop this bleeding and insanity our nation is in right now, we sure as hell better not forget about 2024. Is Trump the best one? I’m not 100% sold on that, especially after the recent endorsement of Kevin McCarthy, who was stabbing Trump in the back as we were exiting, and who has done bupkis to help us since Trump left. Everyone wants Ron DeSantis, and I surely want to see him run, but he’s been frank about saying he’s not running. I hope that’s a shill, but if that’s reality, and he’s a straight shooter, I don’t know who will go in. Then God only knows the censorship, throttling, banning the candidate will get, the “sexual” charges sure to be the October surprise, regardless of whom, sexual charges always drive more women to the polls to vote D. And you know they, the Ds, will do anything to win, even flag it in front of our face and say, “what are you going to do about it? Thought so!”

This is the nightmare scenario I don’t want to see. But history repeats itself because we refused to listen the first time. Or the second time. Regardless of what happens this November, no matter how Earth-shaking, celebrate it for a few days. Then get right back to work gearing up for 2024. You know the Ds will. And bring everything with them. We need to look back to 1995/96 and 2011/12 and learn from what happened. And don’t do it again.

The deck is stacked differently as of right now. Things are definitely much different. But if our side doesn’t pay attention, and do the right things, we may go from the “thrill of victory” to the “agony of defeat” in 2 years. Please for the love of this country and all of us in it, DO NOT let history repeat itself a third time. I figured I’d say something now while we still have time.

This is my personal take on things. Most of the time you see my weather updates and they will continue here on Patriot One. I also have a homeschool whether curriculum for kids you can purchase, a big kid/adult curriculum I’m developing now, and I wrote a faith-based book two years ago. Go to richlupia.com to find Wonder of Weather for Kids, Wonder of Weather, and Unseen Hand of God. You can also find my daily weather blogs at richlupia.com and if you like snow and cold, bookmark upstatesnow.com for the wintertime. I’ve had that for 10 years. You’ll love it if you love winter and snow. Thanks for letting me “break in” with something different. Now, back to the weather!
